This zombie rendition of a classic story perfectly combines both gore and romance to create a cinematic masterpiece.

Following the same story line as the book, “Pride and Prejudice,” by Jane Austin, the movie adds a thrilling essence with surprise and unsettling images of oozing membranes.

This corny piece is hardly a chick-flick. The makeup effects were equally disturbing and creative with oozing zombie faces, torn limbs, and cracked skulls.

There are many action-packed scenes where skilled combat is used equally by both men and women. The people survive the disease ridden district in England with skills in either Chinese or Japanese combat.

This movie does an excellent job of representing women as strong, independent characters, which in that time period was not accepted; however, they do not reject sensitive or stereotypically feminine subjects either.

Women are depicted as capable members of the downfallen society.

The main characters include the Bennet family, consisting of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet, Elizabeth, Jane, Mary, Lydia, and Kitty Bennet, Mr. Darcy, Mr. Bingley, and George Wickham.

I strongly suggest that before viewing this film, you watch one of the “Pride and Prejudice” adaptions. The storyline is hard to follow unless you already know the plot.

Lily James plays Elizabeth Bennet, with co-star Sam Riley as Mr. Darcy. The two begin as bitter acquaintances that have to overcome pride and prejudice, as well as the zombie apocalypse that plagues the regions of England.

Overall, I rate it a 9.3/10 stars. The special effects were well done, the casting was fantastic, and I loved the gory adaption of a romantic classic.
