St. Patrick’s Day was celebrated on March 17, as a religious celebration to honor the death of Saint Patrick. It was official created a holiday during the 17th century as a Christian feast day. The day commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland.

Tracy High students have different viewpoints about St. Patrick’s Day. Some students like to wear green on the days so they don’t get pinched or they have traditions they do at home.

“I am Irish, so really to me it’s just another holiday because they don’t celebrate the holiday in Ireland,” senior Jordan Baker said.

Not all students really believe that this holiday is that important because they believe the Irish don’t celebrate it.

Students may not really understand what this day is really all about.

“It’s just another day to me because I don’t know why the day was created,” junior Emma Davis said.

“I enjoy making corn beef and cabbage with my family members,” senior Mattison Stokes said.

Students have different traditions for this holiday, even if it putting one of their shoes in the hallway to have the “Leprechaun” put coins into it.

“On St. Patrick’s Day, I wear all green, and I go to my auntie’s house to eat green eggs and ham,” sophomore Nicholas Nunez said. “Even if it’s not the normal corn beef and cabbage being left out for the leprechaun, they still have a tradition of eating green eggs and ham.”

When students don’t wear green they get pinched by someone and it seemed like Jordan Roberts will really be looking for pinching someone on St. Patrick’s Day.

“I am going to be pinching the snitches,” senior Roberts said.
