This month’s male athlete of the feature is Isiah Hawthorne. He’s had several double-digit scoring and rebounding games. Everyone looks for the exciting dunks from him, but he brings much more than that to the game.

Hawthorne has been playing basketball most of his life and he continues to get better and better at the sport he likes more than anything. He’s been playing for multiple travel teams and been in a lot of invitational tournaments. He’s also been one of the top projected players in California.

Hawthorne played baseball when he was younger. He was good at that sport too, but he was always going to be a basketball player because of his height and because basketball has been his passion since he was able to dribble and shoot a basketball.

Hawthorne talked about how basketball changed his life and why he would choose that sport over all of the others.

“Basketball has impacted my life in many ways I can’t explain. It has helped me stay out of trouble and I want to do my best in school so I can go to college for free. Basketball is very fun to play. I like being creative when I have the ball in my hands. I fell in love with basketball over any other sport when I was younger because it was exciting to me,”  said Hawthorne.
