Despy Madrid, Reporter
Despy Madrid was born on Feb 18, 2008, in San Jose Calif, she and her family moved to Tracy in 2015 for more opportunities and a better life. She lives with her two brothers, an older brother and a younger brother, her younger cousin and her parents and is currently a senior at Tracy High school. Right now, her plan after high school is currently to either go to a junior college to take some classes to better her journalism skills or to get into an apprenticeship program and become a Sheet Metal Worker. Madrid has been wanting to be a Sheet Metal Worker since she was in the sixth grade because her grandfather was one. She has loved to write since she was young because her father was a writer and would constantly read to her since she was a little girl. Some of her current hobbies include playing music, writing, listening to music and learning about current and past political issues. She has a vast taste in music and that’s because her dad had a radio show and would play many oldies, funk and soul. When Madrid got older, she started to listen to more genres, but she still enjoyed oldies. When it comes to playing music, she enjoys playing the songs “Hey Baby” (Bruce Channel), “I want you back” (Jackson 5) and a newer song they added this year “Earfquake” by Tyler the Creator. She has always enjoyed learning about political issues but last year her Theory of Knowledge (T.O.K) class as well as her Ethnic Studies class helped fuel that fire even more. Madrid can be very opinionated about topics that she finds important and tries to advocate for those who can’t speak for themselves. She has been in the Tracy High marching band for her all 4 years in high school and has been in band for 6 years
