Maliya is a 17-year-old Senior at Tracy High School. She was born in Manteca, California and has moved around a lot. She moved to Arizona when she was a one year old and moved back to California after her first sister was born in 2009. After a few more years, she moved to Texas but ended up back in California. When she returned, she moved to Tracy in 2014. She went to Louis Bohn Elementary School for her 4th grade year and transferred to Poet Christian in her 5th grade. Maliya has 5 other siblings, 2 brothers and 3 sisters ranging in the ages of 3 and 13. They argue a lot but she’s always grateful to have company all the time. When Maliya was little, she dreamed of becoming a scientist and had a plan to start the zombie apocalypse, but as she grew older she realized becoming a scientist would call for a lot more school and more work. So, she dropped it and picked up on writing and English language arts. She found a passion for writing and her dream changed. She learned she wanted to be an author and write a book that would sell everywhere. She excelled in language arts and even earned a plaque with a golden eagle on it in the 8th grade for being one of the best writers in her class. That’s when she knew what she wanted. She came to high school and took advanced classes for English and started her high school career on a good note. Unfortunately, when covid-19 hit she was stuck at home for an awfully long time and picked up other things, like dance and art. She also started writing books and posting them online anonymously, and an author asked Maliya personally if she could edit her new book she had been writing. When Maliya got back to school for her Junior year, she joined film studies and found that she would like to write her stories to turn them into movies. Now her goal is to become a film producer and to go to college in Los Angeles.
