Nayibi Oliva

Nayibi Oliva, Reporter

Nayibi Oliva is a 17-year-old senior at Tracy High School. She moved to Calif. 3 years ago from Cuba. She has a lovely dog who is a special member of her family. She is passionate about art and nature and loves spending time outdoors with animals. Oliva lived in Florida for 4 months, which was a wonderful experience for her, but eventually, she returned to California. A significant part of her time is spent in school and working. Outside of school, she enjoys various activities such as hiking, camping, and drawing. The most important person in her life is her mother; she has always been there for her and guided her to become the person she is today. Oliva’s favorite sport is volleyball, which she played when she was younger back in her home country Cuba. She also loves reading books, particularly in the genres of fantasy and mystery, as they awaken the child that resides inside of her. Oliva’s favorite Disney movie is “Alice in Wonderland,” she says it shows a creative and imaginative essence that reminds her how joyful her childhood was. She is a hard worker and a responsible individual who is willing to explore new fields and strive. Oliva chose to be in journalism because she wants to prove that one can accomplish more than oneself thinks despite the obstacles arising in their path. She would like to become an Orthodontist but has other options in mind as well. Oliva has not yet decided what her next steps after high school graduation are going to be, however, she is sure about going to a four-year university. One piece of advice she would like to share with those seniors like her, who are unsure about their path after graduation, is that there is time to reflect and there will always be a way to change things if you are not content. Oliva believes individuals have the power and capacity to build the future they aspire by working consistently towards it.
