Redrick Sambrano is a 17-year-old senior at Tracy High School. Born in Union City and raised in Tracy, he is the youngest of three brothers, both of whom graduated from Tracy High in 2017 and 2020. A dedicated student, Sambrano is a member of both the International Baccalaureate (IB) program and the Performing Arts Magnet (PAM). He has maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout high school and has been recognized each year as a scholar athlete. Sambrano’s involvement extends well beyond the classroom. Athletically, he spent two years playing football at the freshman and junior varsity levels and is a four-year varsity track and field athlete. Excelling in the jumps, he became the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division I long jump champion in 2024, ranked 16th in the state that same year, and is a two-time Nike Outdoor Nationals qualifier. His accomplishments also earned him recognition as the Sac-Joaquin Section men’s athlete of the week. In addition, he contributes to his community’s sports culture by coaching Tracy High’s Next Level flag football program for three years and refereeing in the Mountain House flag football league. Leadership has been another consistent part of Sambrano’s high school career. He is a three-year member and current treasurer of the Asian Pacific Islanders (API) Club and also serves as treasurer for the Athletic Leadership Council, where he helps build connections between athletics and personal growth. Outside of school, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling to the Bay Area, and practicing photography. When reflecting on his high school experience, Sambrano points to the excitement of Friday night lights at home games as his favorite memories, moments that brought his school and community together. After graduation, he plans to attend a four-year university to study kinesiology with the goal of becoming a physical therapist, while continuing to compete in track and field at the collegiate level.
