Teaching high school English is not always easy, but Tracy High teacher Stacey Myers has a passion for it. Myers was a former student at Tracy high, and returned to her alma mater in 2000 to start teaching English. She loves her students and is inspired by them every day.

What is your idea of a perfect day?

“Every day is a good day.”

What’s your favorite movie?

“’Titantic’”, because I love the love story behind it.”

What do you love most about your job?

“The kids. They drive me crazy, but I love them.”

What was it like to come back and teach at your alma mater?

“Amazing, because of all the support and encouragement I got.”

Where is your favorite place to go on a day trip?

“Monterey. I love the ocean and the city’s history.”

What makes you happy?

“The people in my life make me happy”

What do you love most about working with kids?

“ They are just entertaining. They’re challenging because they make me question what I believe in, what I do, and who I am”

Do you have a bucket list?

“Yes. I would like to learn how to surf, I want to swim with sharks, and I would love to backpack across Europe.”

What’s your favorite day of the week?

“Friday. It’s my favorite because I get to have both a work day, and it’s also the start of the time I get with my family.”

Did you always know you wanted to become a teacher?

“No. My senior year of high school my English teacher, Dianne Traina, inspired me to want to become a teacher.”

Where’d you go to college?

“I went to Stanislaus College. I loved college because I’ve always loved learning. I loved the level of maturity in college classes and the discussions with my teachers.”

What do you remember most about high school?

“I remember all the rallies, homecoming, and sporting events the most. I played basketball, volleyball, and was also on the swim team.”
