Senior Breakfast, scheduled to take place on April 16 at 7:30 a.m., is an activity that many students in the graduating class look forward to each year; however, I am disappointed that dressing up in fun costumes is no longer an option.

This year the administration has said that students may dress in pajamas, but not costumes. The administration thought that seniors were abusing the privilege to dress up and used it to make fun of certain people. Students wearing costumes will not be allowed at Senior Breakfast.

Seniors must dress up in all pajamas as if they are waking up for breakfast. This is how event was originally held, but over the last 11 years it has evolved into a costume party.

As a senior this is very upsetting. I was planning on dressing like Florida State Seminoles quarterback Jameis Winston.

What if I sleep in a Jameis Winston jersey? Am I not allowed to wear my pajamas then?

We should have been given a theme that is within the school dress code that we can all agree would be fun and memorable for Senior Breakfast; however, then some seniors would take advantage of this.

Past seniors have used Senior Breakfast to dress up with their friends in their own creative way. I don’t think it’s fair we don’t get this same opportunity.

However, we are lucky to be having a breakfast at all; some schools have cancelled the activity due to this dressing up issue. I do not want this to happen at Tracy High.

Food services is cooking pancakes, French toast, eggs, bacon, and sausage. Basically any breakfast food you would want.

All these issues aside, I am looking forward to not having to go to class for the first two periods of the day, and being able to hang out with all of my friends. We are privileged with these senior activities and a delicious breakfast is in store for us.
