The popular Bay Area radio station 99.7 held its sixth annual “Triple Ho Show” Christmas concert in San Jose on Dec. 2. The concert included 5 Seconds of Summer, Nathan Sykes, Austin Mahone, Fifth Harmony, and One Direction. The sold-out show did not fail to impress thousands of fans, and was definitely their best Triple Ho Show yet.

5 Seconds of Summer opened the show with their hit single “She Looks So Perfect”, which was a great way to get the crowd excited because everybody knew the lyrics and could sing along. They continued with singles from their new album, “She’s Kinda Hot” and “Hey Everybody!” and then slowed it down with “Amnesia”. The band closed out with its newest single “Jet Black Heart” and their cover of The Romantics’ “What I Like About You”. While their set list was very short and they weren’t on stage for very long, it was obvious a large portion of the crowd were fans and, thus, they successfully prepared the crowd for the night ahead.

The next performer was Nathan Sykes, an up-and-coming solo artist who was previously in the boyband The Wanted. He only sang a couple of songs and seemed like more of a time filler than a big performer, but, nonetheless, he was talented.

After a small intermission Austin Mahone performed. I personally did not enjoy his performance because he was mainly dancing as he lip-synced to his songs, but some people in the crowd were obvious fans and it was nice to see other people so excited to see him. He brought out surprise guest and rapper Sage the Gemini, which was exciting because nobody was expecting it.

Fifth Harmony was the next performer, and, as a big fan, I thought their performance was absolutely amazing. Their music got everybody on their feet, especially with their hit single “Worth It”. They also sang their new song that was featured movie “Hotel Trannsylvania 2”, “I’m In Love With a Monster”, which was exciting because it was a song I had never heard them sing live before. Overall, Fifth Harmony put on a great performance and were one of my favorite acts of the night.

The radio hosts then came on stage and announced surprise guest Kalin and Myles. Kalin and Myles are from the Bay Area, so most of the crowd were fans and excited to see them. They definitely kept the crowd entertained and dancing. My favorite part was when they performed their most popular song, “Trampoline”.

The biggest part of the night was when One Direction performed. It was obvious that the entire crowd was filled with One Directions fans based on how loud everyone was screaming. They opened with one of their newer singles, “Drag Me Down”. They also sang some songs from their brand new album Made in the AM, such as “Love You Goodbye” and “AM”. It was amazing to hear them sing these new songs. They were really able to connect with the crowd and it was really special when they thanked their fans for helping them get to where they are. They closed with their new single “History”, which is a perfect anthem to connect the band to their fans, with lyrics such as “we could be the greatest team that the world has ever seen”. One Direction were definitely the best performer of the night.

Overall, this concert was an incredible experience. The crowd was extremely excited the entire time, which made the show much more enjoyable. This is definitely one of my favorite concerts I have ever been to because it featured a lot of my favorite artists, and I hope 99.7’s next Triple Ho Show is just as great as this one.
