“Daddy’s Home” has the perfect amount of heartwarming and comedic scenes, satisfying people of all ages.

The movie introduces characters Brad Whitaker (Will Ferrell), a radio executive who is very organized and involved in his step-children’s lives, and Dusty Mayron (Mark Wahlberg), the bad boy and free willed biological father to Whitaker’s step-children.

The main focus of the film is to get the viewers to laugh along as the characters hash out their conflicts in a witty and comical way. It makes the viewers feel as though they know the characters personally, and it creates a real connection between the viewers and the remarkable situations that take place in the movie.

The conflicts that take place throughout the movie are very general situations that could happen to many people, making the movie relate able, and the witty come-backs littered throughout the movie makes audiences sit on the edge of their seat, ready to laugh at a moments notice.

Brad Whitaker has finally earned the respect and love of his step-children, Dylan and Megan, when the biological father, Dusty Mayron, decides to pop in and surprise the family. With the children awed by the their daring and dangerous biological father, Brad feels the need to set some boundaries and prove his worth to his step-children. This causes conflicts between Brad and Dusty, creating a showdown, both men trying to prove their worth as a man and as a father figure. A battle rages, pinning dad against step-dad.

Many Will Ferrell fans were disappointed, claiming that this movie is not as comical as some of Ferrell’s other movies.

Though this plot has less comedy incorporated in it, it expand its audience by adding a very heartwarming story line of step-dad trying to earn the love of his step-children, and dad trying to prove that he still loves and cares for his children.

Being a huge fan of comedy movies, I am very happy with this movie and its plot. I love the characters and their strange, but funny ways of handling different situations.

Considering this is a new idea for a story line, I am very impressed by “Daddy’s Home”.
