Justin Bieber’s “Purpose” Tour made its way down to the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California, on March 18, marking it as the second and last Bay Area show on his tour.

My journey to Oracle Arena began at the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) station in Pleasanton, California.  Upon arrival, I instantly noticed a large crowd of excited and eager girls awaiting the same train as me.  Many of which were already flaunting their Justin Bieber merchandise and I could tell this was going to be a hyped crowd.

The transit was short, and as we neared the Coliseum, I could see the anxiety building up in the girls’ faces. I, too, found it hard not to get excited.

Outside the arena, there were huge crowds of people going in all different directions. The atmosphere was chaotic and it was hard to find anyone.  But one thing was for sure, we were all headed towards the same place, to see the one of the greatest artists.  I looked up towards the top of the arena, just as I was entering, “Justin Bieber: Purpose Tour” read the banner across the front of the Coliseum. I was seeing Justin Bieber for the first time, this was it.

Soon enough everyone found their seats and the lights went dark, the concert was beginning.  The first of the two opening acts was a young, new artist named Moxie. I had never heard of her before, but her voice was great. However her songs were a little slow, and I was looking forward to a more upbeat opener for Justin.  It was clear the crowd agreed with me, as they seemed to mellow out as opposed to their screaming tendency whenever they believed Justin was coming out.

Then the second opening act, Post Malone came out and the crowd got a little more excited. I enjoyed his performance a lot, it was a dramatic shift from Moxie’s performance.  Everyone in the audience was practically singing over him, during his song “White Iversion”, which has become very popular.

His performance ended after half an hour, and everyone grew anxious for Justin to arrive on stage. The wait was agonizing, as after each Michael Jackson song that ended, the crowd started screaming for Justin and got excited, but another Michael Jackson song would just play. This happened at least five times, until Justin’s opening video became to play and the crowd grew wild.

“Where are you now” began to play, and all the dancers appeared.  We all anxiously kept looking around the stage, just waiting for Justin to appear, and then he did.  From below the stage he slowly rose to the crowd.  I cannot explain the insanity that occurred when he did.

It was clear that this was a well-rehearsed show as the choreography was exciting and eye-capturing, there was never a dull moment.  However, he did have a short segment where it was just him and his guitar. The spotlight was on him, he sat, strummed, and sang his songs “Purpose” and “Love Yourself”. He truly connected the messages in his songs with the audience.

Overall, the concert was amazing and his performance was one for the records. I could not believe that he sounded just as good live as he does in the recordings. It was an unforgettable experience.
