He has a wife named Melanie who he talks about all the time and a daughter named Kyla, who is 11 years old. Alexandre is passionate about his teaching and loves to keep his students entertained during his lectures by being very animated.

What’s your family life like? “I am the primary caretaker of the house, I review Kyla’s homework and then I cook. Then when my wife comes home we spend the evening as a family.”

What was the most memorable trip you have taken? “I would say my first trip to Germany in 2001, because we met many of my wife’s part of the family who are now very close to us.”

Where are you planning on going next? “We are going to Germany and Paris in December because we like the idea of spending Christmas in Europe. Also, it will be our last trip for a while.”

Is there anywhere you have to go before you die? “I want to travel to Asia and Africa because people tend to neglect them because of the language boundaries and the natural dangers.”

What motivates you to keep teaching? “The one or two kids every year, you do something and see the lights turn on, and they finally start to understand everything.

What made you want to start teaching? “I was inspired by a teacher in college, he walked up to me and asked me if I had ever considered teaching, and I gave it a try.”

What made you want to teach history? “I always loved it, and my father was an older man, he was 70 when I was born, and he inspired me because he always had a lot of history and stories to share.”

What is the best part of teaching at Tracy High School? “We have a great group of teachers and, in my opinion, the best department a Tracy High.”

What is the best advice you’ve ever gotten? “Anything you want to have, you have to work for it. Either 100 percent or nothing.”

What would you want to do after you retire? “We already have it planned out; we will spend two or three months somewhere in the world and live amongst the people.”

What is your favorite class incident while teaching? “Every year the constant nagging of students wanting me to do the splits and when I finally do, I can’t walk right for a few days afterward.”
