Baseball Season Starts

The Tracy High baseball team has been practicing now for the past three weeks. The team had their first scrimmage last Saturday, but due to weather conditions, they got rained out in the second inning.

They had another scrimmage this past Monday against Kimball high school. It was a good tune-up for the regular season.

The baseball team played their first game Friday, Feb. 22 against Antioch High school, winning 10-3.

Ryan Dzoan was asked a couple of questions about the baseball team.

Dzoan said, “I hope we do better than last year‘s team, our goal is to get better and better every day so we can beat the team we are going to play next.”

He is a starting second baseman, a catcher, and he plays a big role on the team.

The manager, Coach Vic Alkire said, “This year‘s team is not like last year‘s team or two years ago, it’s this year’s team and they need to work on being better than past years’ teams.”

It’s a fight between who starts and who doesn’t and everyone practices hard and plays hard so they can get that starting spot on the team.

The baseball team will have a great season this year and will hopefully win the league. They play again Feb. 27 at 3:30 p.m. at home against Liberty High, weather permitting after being rained out Feb. 26.
