The National Basketball Association (NBA) season is officially back with the preseason starting on Oct. 4.
The preseason has been around for nearly as long as the league itself, with the concept of the preseason games coming around the late 1940s.
NBA preseason allows the teams to prepare for the regular season. It serves serval purposes like player evaluation, strategy testing, conditioning and team chemistry.
Lucas Nguyen, a senior at Tracy High, expressed his excitement about the preseason starting back up again.
“I can’t wait for the season to begin,” Nguyen said. “I’m excited to watch the Warriors play again and I can’t wait to watch our new players play.”
Nguyen has been a fan of basketball and the Warriors ever since he was a little kid and is excited to see how the Warriors will perform this season.
The preseason serves as a warm-up for both players and fans, helping build excitement while providing an early look at team dynamics.
Pipat Pranpradit, a senior at Tracy High, expressed how exciting it was to attend a preseason game.
“It was cool to see the Warriors,” Pranpradit said. “I was looking forward to seeing how the new and returning players were going to perform.”
Pranpradit expects great things from the Warriors this season and is confident they can bring home another championship.
Players use the preseason to get back into the feel of things and test out the chemistry they have with their teammates.
Monty Kim, a senior at Tracy High, expressed how impactful the preseason is towards the players.
“Players can test out their bodies and can get a feel of their team chemistry,” Kim said. “It also lets the players show case their skills to their fans.”
Kim was pleased with the performances from all teams in the preseason and can’t wait for the regular season to start.
