Tracy High’s new Activities Director Joshua Gomez-Zavala is a new face for the school. His goal for this year is to increase engagement with the students: he plans on doing this by having more activities for all students rather than having them be Associated Student Body (ASB) oriented.
“Leadership and getting involved in campus activities isn’t an exclusive club,” Gomez-Zavala said, “It should be open to everybody.”

He believes that Tracy High should be a place where all students can get the opportunity to get involved with many different events and activities on campus.
Senior Srin Ibrahim, the school’s ASB Secretary, exclaimed that they seem to find him a good fit for Tracy High.
“I couldn’t think of any better teacher here at this campus to replace Chitwood other than G-Z (Gomez-Zavala).”
Gomez-Zavala is constantly working with the ASB board to learn new things and allow him to reach the best of his abilities.
Freshman Class President Layla MacDonald expresses her appreciation. Although this is his first year, he has been making sure he can help his students the most he can.
“He wants everyone’s voice to be heard,” MacDonald said. “He is willing to help us no matter what.”
His students have expressed how excited they are for this year and are excited for the growth his class will go through.
