On April 25, Tracy Earth Project presented the Tracy Earth Day event in Downtown Tracy on 9th Street, from Central Avenue to B Street. The event took place at the same time as the farmer’s market, lasting from 9am to 1pm.
The event featured educational booths from several organizations, including the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, the Tracy Delta Solid Waste Management Inc, San Joaquin County Public Works and many more organizations that sustain our community.

During the event there were many educational booths to help the community understand what their organizations provide to the community and to help them have a better understanding of ways they can help keep their community clean. Danny Gonzalez, who’s a part of the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, shared what he hoped the event impacted on people who attended.
“I hope that people leave here with further resources, and to know that they can definitely make a change in their home or in the community in regard to their quality.” Gonzalez stated.
Most people like Gonzalez want to make a change to the environment, and the event presented opportunities for the community to participate in community clean ups or volunteer work in general. The next volunteer community clean-ups are on June 13 and Sept. 26, hosted by the City of Tracy and the Tracy Earth Project.
Annalisa Repetto, who works with Tracy Delta Solid Waste Management Inc, noted small ways people can help the environment.
“You can use your three-cart system, recycle appropriately and buy things you can use more than once.” Repetto advised. “Just buy things and be a little more careful about what you’re investing in.” Repetto added.

Events like this are important for our community to stay sustained and sanitary, and to teach people ways that they can help clean our community. Maryssa Davidson, a part of the San Joaquin County Public Works, mentioned how important it was for the community to have events like this.
“I think it’s great to just be able to communicate with people and let then know all of the different services and things that we offer to the community.” Davidson stated.
The Tracy Earth Project hosts the Tracy Earth Day event annually every April and continues to spread awareness to the community about recycling, water conservation, renewable energy and climate action.
