Parade of Lights, an alternative-electro band that was formed in 2010 is made up of Ryan Daly, Anthony Improgo, Michelle Ashley and Randy Schulte. They previously self-released an EP called “Born to Live, Born to Love,” which introduced their sound to fans. Now, Parade of Lights has come out with a second EP called “Golden” which consists of four, catchy, new songs.

Two songs from the EP, “Golden” and “We’re the Kids,” have already been released as singles and I can see why people love the songs.

These two songs are upbeat and catchy, which seems to be a consistent trend in all four songs. For example, in “Golden” the lyrics “Just for tonight and put your hands up to the sky. Just for tonight, so we can go until we shine…” brings a fun and uplifting mood.

Also, in “We’re the Kids” as it says “Let’s just make it last tonight. We are, yeah, we’re the kids now…,” gives a mood of feeling free. You listen to it and it just lifts your mood up, making the listener feel like they can do anything.

Two new songs from the EP are called “The Island” and “Burn” which are not any different sounding than the other songs. All the songs sound very similar to each other, using the same bass and electronic type sounds. It would be nice to have more variety thrown in because as you listen to the songs more and more they blend into each other, sounding the same.

My favorite song from the EP would be “The Island,” because I feel like I can relate to this song. It talks about getting away which every person feels like they want to get away sometimes.

My least favorite song would have to be “We’re the Kids.” I feel like the song was short and was not strong lyrically because of its two short, and basic verses and a small chorus.

One theme is that each song talks about getting away and escaping as well and being young. These are good topics for songs, but I wish they would of expanded and released other songs with different meanings to give their fans a mix of what to expect in their later works. I felt like I was listening to the same song, it felt repetitive at times.

Even if a person does not listen to this genre, I feel like they would like this EP. It contains music that is meant to be enjoyable, so if you want to listen to music that will boost your mood up, I recommend taking a listen.
