Senior Shivam Swamy has made golf his sport and his hobby. He has been on the Tracy High golf team for four years, and hopes to continue pursuing it after he graduates.

His dad has been an influence on Swamy, because Swamy’s dad plays golf with him.

“My best score on 28 holes, is a 73.” Swamy said.

Swamy feels he needs to improve on his driving skills, but his strongest skill in golfing would be his mid-iron and hitting the green with those clubs.

“Swamy is our number one golfer on the team,” Coach Derek Solano said.

His experiences playing with the Tracy High team has been positive. Being on the golf has given him many memories of meeting new people and playing on different courses.

“Solano is a very good coach,” Swamy said. “He is very chill,”

Swamy also spends time outside of school playing golf and practices alone. Oin mmost weekends he plays in tournaments. Some of the tournaments he participates in includes younger adults his age and sometimes he plays against adults for a challenge.

Swamy is interested in partaking golf in college. He said if he works diligently over summer and has the ability to play like the college level then he might play golf in college.

“Shivam has always been a good golfer,” Solano said. “He makes out team better.”

Swamy’s goals for the season are to stay consistent and get a score on average of 40 every match he faces.

Swamy’s favorite course to play on is Brookeside in Stockton, which is Lodi’s home course.

“It is a very nice course,” Swamy said.

As of now the team’s record is 4-1.

Solano’s main goal for the season is to challenge Lincoln and Lodi for the league championship.

Also junior Talon Simmons and junior Jared Finney are also doing very well. They have an average scores of 43. They spend a lot of their time outside of school playing golf.

“I am hoping that all the returning players can have better averages scores from their previous seasons,” Solano said.

The Bulldogs will travel to Stockton to take on the Lodi Flames at Brookside on April 1 at 3:30.
