Every year, students get the opportunity to run against other classmates for a class officer position in leadership.

The positions for each class are president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary.

Those who were elected as senior class officers were President Jenna Wesley, Vice- President Cassie Hayashi, Treasurer Michelle Laiolo, and Secretary Joey Cocoles.

“I am most excited for getting to plan all the upcoming senior activities,” Wesely said. “I think that it will be a blast.”

Junior class officers are President Allison Piwowarski, Vice President Carly Walling, Treasurer Abhijot Mann. Junior class secretary has not yet been decided.

“I feel very honored that I was chosen to be the junior class president,” Piwowarski said. “I am excited to be able to lead my class next year.”

Those elected as sophomore class officers are President Hailey Warren, Vice-President Lovejeet Gakhal, Treasurer Hannah Price, and Secretary Wendy Zanker.

“Since I was freshman class president, I am not as nervous for next year,” Warren said. “I am more eager to see what is coming up this next year.”

The selection process is based on how hard the individuals work, their teacher recommendations, and the interviews held by Associated Student Body (ASB).

“Interviews are done during the day and held in the leadership room during lunch time,” ASB President Devra Asah said. “We always have such great candidates and there is not a lot of competition, which makes our jobs easier.”

Many ASB members have said that commissioner interviews are much more difficult but class officer interviews still have their downfall.

“The most difficult thing about the process is having to turn away great people,” ASB Board Representative Ale Rodriguez said. “It is always hard internally, having to deal with the pain of knowing that someone else is hurting because of a decision essentially you had to make.”

ASB is confident in the choices they have made and are excited for the next upcoming year.

“In the end, I know our choices were for the best,” Rodriguez said. “I am really looking forward to next year, it will be awesome.”

Freshman class officers have not been determined, but candidates are in the process of being interviewed by Activities Director Alayna Carter and the ASB cabinet.
