As the Dance Team settles into another season, they are getting ready to perform new, exciting routines on the football field under the Friday night lights. Preparations over summer have helped to strengthen team skills, and they are ready as ever to be a part of the half-time shows.

“They are super ready. We just need to go over sidelines a little bit more, but I think they’re definitely ready,” Dance Team Coach Morgan Mulholand said.

Over the summer, the team had learned new skills at dance camp in order to improve their qualities as well.

“They learned two full routines, they had turning clinics, and ballet clinics, and they all improved a lot,” Mulholand said.

Although the coach of the team helps them to become ready for the season, there are also two captains that help manage the team.

“We spend a good amount of time focusing on technique, running the numbers, and cleaning them to make them as best as we can,” Dance Team Captain Lexie Gomez said.

The preparations the dance team makes for the season also includes becoming closer with their teammates in order to create better skills as a group.

“We have a lot of team bonding, so we can dance in unison,” Co-Captain, Kasie Ryan, said.

One major activity the dance team takes part in is the half-time performances during the home varsity football games on Friday nights.

“We do mostly jazz and some hip-hop. I want to try to do tap this year, but we’ll see,” Mulholand said.

“We’ll be having themed dances for the rallies and homecoming, too,” Gomez said, referring to the special dance numbers they’ll be putting together for the year.

Similar to other teams that are preparing for their seasons, the dance team is also working to be their best, and they are very ready to showcase their talent.

“I’m most excited to perform at the football games because I love looking out to the crowd when I’m dancing,” Gomez said.

“The team is super excited. They got really good feedback last year, so they are pretty excited,” Mulholand said.

The dance team is feeling more prepared and they are ready to show the improvements that they have made since the last season.

Dance team is definitely getting a lot better as every year goes on.

“I feel like every year the team just keeps improving. Every year gets more serious and hard working,” Ryan and Gomez agreed.
