Girls’ tennis makes playoffs for the first time in six years

The tennis team made it to playoffs; however lost in the quarter-finals to Oak Ridge, 1-8, in Folsom on Oct. 12.

“We had a great season,” Coach Paul Demsher said, “We were co-champions in the TCAL, and we advanced in the playoffs for the first time in six years.”

“The girls showed a lot of drive and commitment to the team and were very successful,” Demsher said.

Senior Sarah Kellogg who went undefeated all season, fought her way through playoffs however by the end was defeated by Oak Ridge.

“The thing I enjoyed this year was our team because we all got really close and had a lot of fun,” Kellogg said.

“Throughout the season I improved mentally, and I was really focused on what I had to do to win,” Kellogg said.

“I think I did pretty well at my sections meet,” in her third year of playing tennis, Melanie Markovic said, “I had lost my first match, but I think I played with all I had and I’m proud of that; my opponent was very good, so it was a good competition.

“The most enjoyable part of this year was playing the sport I love and being able to make sections was a privilege,” Markovic said.

“My goals were achieved. We had a fantastic season,” Demsher said.
