Tracy High boys soccer team has been very competitive this season.

“Preseason started off really well. The only losses we had was the first game because we had to get used to the new team this year so we went from there. We also had two more losses in a tournament, but that doesn’t really matter because it’s just a tournament. But we have a chance of winning the league this year,” said Tyler Gaudreau, a senior soccer player.

The played against their cross-town rival on Jan. 12 at West High. Varsity had a rough start, but Tracy scored the first goal. Soon after, West came back and scored a goal of their own and made the score to the game 1 to 1.

The game was an entertaining game but in the end, it was a tie.

“We could’ve taken the win. But our team was playing well, even though some of our players were injured. It was just a tough game,” said Estevan Murillo, another player on the boys’ varsity soccer team.

Wednesday, Jan.  22 the Tracy High varsity team played Tokay at home, the score was tied 1 to 1 at the end of regulation. Which improved the team’s overall record to 7-5-4. It also improved their league record, which is 2-2-4.

Tracy fell to Lincoln 1-0 in another close match on Jan. 25 and defeated West 2-1 on Jan. 30.

Tracy High has a winning record at this point in the season and they are still in the running for a playoff spot. They need to catch Lodi who they play Feb. 1 at 6:00 pm in Lodi.
