Tracy High Boys basketball proved their potential through the regular season with an honorable record of 18-9 ending their regular season losing a close game to Modesto Christian on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 72-64 and by defeating West High School on Feb. 8 by a score of 81-56.

Heading into playoffs, the senior players had an opportunities to show their abilities to colleges before they must hang their shoes up and let the upcoming juniors take the spotlight.

Senior forward, Kyle Simpson, heading into playoffs had a few words to say about the season and where teamwork has brought the team.

“Overall I believe we have grown a lot as a team. Looking back how we played during our first tournament at Western Ranch, we have improved a ton. Everyone has become a threat that teams have to worry about, and we have become more of a unit rather than waiting for one guy to do something. Going to playoffs was our goal this entire season, and because we won’t be getting a home playoff game, we are going into the playoffs as an underdog. I’d like to see someone not named Modesto Christian and St. Mary’s,” said Simpson

With the team’s proven ability on the court and a new drive to perform in playoffs, there were high yet achievable expectations by the team. Unfortunately, Tracy ran into Capital Christian in the first round. After leading by 2 in the first half, the Bulldogs eventually fell to the Cougars 70-50.
