Hadia Yuqob, Student Life Editor
Hadia Yuqob was born in Kabul, Afghanistan. She grew up in Afghanistan and lived there till the age of 10 when she had to move to the United States of America for better education and her family’s safety. She’s been living in Tracy, California since 2016. When Yuqob first moved to the United States, she didn’t speak English. It became a struggle for her, but she worked hard and started speaking fluently after a year or two. She likes to try new things, learn about different cultures and enjoys seeing things from other people’s perspectives. She is passionate about helping people and making sure everyone is getting treated the right way. She is into politics and likes to share her opinions on things with evidence that supports her opinions. After high school, she is planning on majoring in Political Science and Psychology. She would like to be a lawyer in the future, and is working hard to make that happen. She likes to learn new languages and right now she is working on learning Turkish by watching a lots of Turkish shows. She likes horror movies mainly because she finds them humorous. Yuqob is the president for the Muslim Student Association and Vice President of Voices for diversity. She loves meeting new people so she joined journalism for the possibility of interviewing people and being able to write about their experiences.
