Not For Radio delivered an astonishing performance to close its third and final day Wednesday, Jan. 7, bringing a high-energy finish to the three-day event at the Fox Theater in Oakland.

The final night featured multiple acts, beginning with an orchestral performance by four musicians that set the tone for the show.
This was followed by a 15-minute intermission, during which Not For Radio prepared for the final performance behind the curtain. When it opened, the set began with a monologue as the first act.
“You can tell she takes inspiration from a plethora of different spaces — movies, shows, other artists,” said Alyssa Echaluse, a longtime fan of The Marías and Not For Radio. “She blends them together perfectly to create her own style, her own music.”
The stage reflected the mellow tone of Not For Radio’s music, featuring unreleased tracks along with a more personal and experimental version of The Marías’ song “No One Noticed,” released on May 31, 2024.

María Zardoya, best known as the lead singer of The Marías, started Not For Radio as a solo project and stage name. She released the album “Melt” on Oct. 10, 2025. The 10-track album runs about 42 minutes.
Zardoya created Not For Radio to express a more individual musical style. The project features a more experimental and unconventional sound compared with The Marías’ more pop-oriented, radio-friendly music.
In the coming years, Zardoya plans to continue making music while placing greater focus on her solo project and continuing her work with The Marías.
