On April 9, 2024, Tracy High School decided to change their schedule for the day due to the junior state testing.  The schedule included three different events around campus for the freshmen, sophomores and seniors to go to while the juniors tested. This was something new that Tracy High was trying, but the students and faculty seemed to enjoy it.

The first place the seniors headed to was the “Bulldog Feud.” This game was held in the cafeteria and created by the counselors, Mrs. Hallen, Mrs. Abraham, Mr. Manley, Mrs. Clark and Mr. Sanny. The game had five members on two teams that went against each other, answering funny and twisted questions as quickly as they could. Mrs. Clark also played “Steve Harvey”, wearing a bald cap and mustache, making the game more fun and realistic.

“My favorite station was the bulldog feud because all of us seniors were participating and the answers to the questions were funny,” Ashley Landi, a senior, said with a smile.

After four rounds of “Bulldog Feud”, the seniors then headed to the main gym where the next station began. This station was a motivational speaker Kate Garnes, who told her story to spread positivity. Garnes told her story, uplifting others and how real-life situations should be correctly handled. Garnes also expressed the difficulties and problems she experienced throughout her life and how she got through them.

“I would tell my younger self to stop worrying about what everyone thinks of you because nobody is thinking of you and don’t be small,” Kate Garnes expressed. “Don’t be afraid to fill a room that you are given.”

As Garnes ended her talk with a motivational song, “This Is Me”, the seniors then made their way to their last station in the girl’s sub gym. This last station was a fentanyl presentation by two women. One of the women who spoke had lost her child at a young age a couple months ago, due to a fentanyl overdose and was trying to spread awareness. The other woman had explained the difficulties of addiction and how bad drugs can ruin you and your life. We were also given examples and shown before and after pictures of celebrities whose character got ruined due to drugs. They also showed us celebrities whose lives were taken too soon due to drug abuse.

“My favorite station was the fentanyl station because it shows us real-life situations and how badly taking one drug can go a long way,” Mychaela Lawas, a senior, said. “I think it was also nice that they were spreading awareness for drug abuse.”

As the fentanyl presentation finished up freshman, sophomores and seniors headed to lunch after three hours of games and activities. They continued their day with classes consisting of only 25 minutes. Overall, the new schedule Tracy High used for the educational presentations were a success and the students and faculty all seemed to enjoy it.
