In Tracy’s West Valley Mall, Macy’s has recently announced its closure after staying in the mall for 16 years. Around 150 of Macy’s underperforming stores are being closed by the end of 2026, with 14 closures officially announced in January. Macy’s in the West Valley Mall has no official closing date, as they are slowly going day by day to get rid of all the store’s stock.

Many people have spoken about the store closing. Nancy Inguanzo, an avid shopper at Macy’s, shared her opinion.
“I’m a little upset,” Inguanzo expressed. “This is the only reason I would continue shopping at this mall.”

Another Macy’s customer, Aaron Ibarra, also expressed his feelings on the matter.
“I’d say I’m pretty bummed out, most of our stores here end up closing,” Ibarra stated.
Similarly, a Tracy High student Emilio Santacruz shared his thoughts about the Macy’s location.
“Hearing the news that Macy’s is closing gave me a devastating feeling since it’s the main clothing store in the Tracy mall,” Santacruz stated.
Another student Angelina Banuelos also expressed how it made her feel.

“It makes me feel upset; I used to try on dresses with my cousins in there,” Banuelos added.
Almost everything in the store is on sale for 20% off or more on things such as jeans, housewares, comforters, bedding, home décor, pet care, tailored clothes, dress shirts, neckwear, shoes, sportswear, all with a bigger percentage being discounted gradually over time. There’s also 40% off on jewelry and no sales on any cosmetics, perfume or cologne.
