The Tracy High Annual Art Show is on Monday, April 7 in room D210 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Art teachers will be displaying the artwork of their students.

Art teachers Thomas Coupe and Nancy Stamatis are excited for the upcoming show.

“What I like about the show is that it is able to show off the advanced students’ artwork,” Coupe said.

Art Teacher Nancy Stamatis teaches various art classes and Yearbook Design, “I’m really excited about getting to show off wonderful artwork that my students have done. I certainly hope the campus will come to the show and enjoy.”

There has been a recent change of venue since the Emma Baumgardner theater, where the art show is usually held, is currently under construction.

“We used to have the art show in the lobby of the theater building, but since the construction we’ve had to change the location to the upstairs room in the D building,” Coupe said. “When the show was in the theater, we were able to have the show open during lunch for the other students to see, but now I’m going to have to ask teachers if they’re able to bring in their students to the show during class time.”

Many art students are also ecstatic about the upcoming show. Senior Regine Manuel, an advanced art student, is having some of her art work displayed in the show.

“It’s cool to see the art works of different people and different styles of art work,” Manuel said. “My favorite piece in the show is the one I did for the inside yearbook cover.”

Senior Brianna Hernandez is also excited to have one of her pieces on display.

“My landscape painting of a forest was my most difficult piece. It took the longest and had the most detail, but it’s one of my favorites,” Hernandez said. “I get my inspiration from photographs on Pinterest, and it’s where I found my inspiration from the landscape piece as well.”

Advanced art student and senior Cameron Pham is most proud of his rose drawing being put on display.

“I usually don’t draw roses very well, but this time I had the patience to add details. I used colored pencil and graphite to create it,” Pham said.

Senior Marty Vargas also has a piece in the show this year.

“My favorite work I did was the landscape drawing of a house surrounded by trees. My favorite part about it is the sky because it’s really colorful and I spent a lot of time coloring it with prisma colored pencils,” Vargas said.

Junior Gabriella Tassano also is participating in the art show.

“My self-portrait piece that I did in yearbook is going to be featured in the show, and I’m really proud of it,” Tassano said.

The Tracy High Annual Art Show is an opportunity for the art teachers and their students to display all their hard work and talent.
