With pre-season wrapping up and the start of the 2025-2026 basketball season beginning, several juniors on the team shared their thoughts on their goals, the team’s growth and what recent games mean for the rest of the year.

Junior Aiden Guzman said he entered the season with clear expectations for himself and for the team. 

Guzman added that one of his biggest personal goals is to “average double-digits”. Guzman said reaching that mark would reflect the work he put in and the role he hopes to play in the team’s success.  

Guzman’s focus on scoring and leadership shows how the group is trying to build a stronger offensive identity for the future.  

Junior, Brody McCoy believes the win meant more than just a final score. 

McCoy explained that the victory “builds confidence” for everyone on the roster and helps set the tone for how they want to play moving forward. 

McCoy shared that it gives the team a boost to stay “focused” and stay locked into their preparation as the schedule becomes more challenging. The players understand the connection between confidence and performance.  

Looking ahead, the team is using every game as an opportunity to grow. 

Junior Gabriel Canalita believes Monday’s game against Galt provides valuable preparation for tougher opponents. 

He added that it gives them a “live rep” which he believes will benefit them once higher-pressure situations arrive later in the season.  

The boys’ basketball team emphasizes a different piece of the process from personal goals to momentum and preparation. Their perspective suggests a group that understands what it takes to complete and is committed to building towards a stronger season.
