“I’ve always really liked football and even watching it I thought it would be so much fun to play,” Gutierrez said. “I

loved how fast and competitive the sport looked.”
Gutierrez mentions that her mom was the person who inspired her to play flag football.
“She never lets an obstacle stop her and is the strongest person I know,” Gutierrez added.
The girls flag football team had a difficult game against Kimball High School, losing by only one point leaving the score 25-26.
“I try and keep a good attitude no matter what and understand that there will be some games where they will go downhill,” Gutierrez said. “It’s important to not let it affect how I feel about myself or my team.”
Gutierrez states how she stayed focused on field even when things got chaotic.

“I try to only pay attention to what’s happening in front of me and to what I can control,” Gutierrez explained.
Gutierrez also gives advice to newcomers who want to try out a sport.
“Trust the process, you might not be good at first but as long as you choose to keep pushing yourself then you can do it and to always believe in yourself,” Gutierrez concluded.
