Tracy High’s Soccer Senior Night was one to remember as the team closed out its home season with a dominant 6-0 shutout against the crosstown team, Kimball. This gave the seniors a celebration on their home field and night full of emotion, laughter and gratitude.
The game took a slow start as the first half ended 0-0, but the Bulldogs entered the second with full force.
For senior captain and goal scorer Olivia Sams, the night was a memorable close.
“It meant a lot to me because it was a full circle moment,” Sams said. “I was playing with the people I’ve been with since I was five years old.”
After transferring into the program her Junior year, being reunited with lifelong teammates and most especially sharing the field with her younger sister made the night even more meaningful.
The team did not let the emotions distract them. Instead, they turned Senior Night into a statement win, with contributions all over the field. Sams, who scored in the shutout, commented on how the atmosphere made the moment more special.
“It was more exciting to score in this game because our family and friends were watching and supporting,” Sams expressed.
The defense also worked hard and ensured the night ended with a clean sheet. Senior goalkeeper, Breea Lewandowski, embraced the moment with both excitement and gratitude, especially when given the opportunity to have fun in other positions.

“I was really excited to get out on the field,” she said. “I’ve been begging him (Coach Kalis) practically all season to let me run. Seeing how excited everyone else was for me was absolutely surreal.”
Beyond the final score, what stood out most to the seniors were the small moments shared together. Senior captain, Olivia Colmenero, commented on the team bond.
“This team is truly some of my best friends,” Colmenero explains. “I could not imagine a better team to end my seniro season.”
This Senior Night does not bring their season to a close as the girls have finished top of the league with 14-2 record. They will now head off in to playoffs, bringing this strong team culture and pride into their final games.
