Battlefield 4, the open beta version was released Oct. 1, and it foreshadows the release date of the full game on Oct 29. The beta version included one map called Paracel Storm and three game modes which were conquest, domination, and the newly added obliteration mode.

Open beta was released one month before the full game would be confirmed, so bug fixes could be made before the final version would be finalized.

Major bugs that consisted in the open beta included the bullet drop functioning and the elevator glitch. Battlefield players were upset when bullet drop physics were not in the open beta program, and pushed the developers to include it in the final game version.

One major glitch was how the elevator would work when the building in Siege of Shanghai had already collapsed. The elevator would work as a catapult and rocket the player into the sky.

A major class balancing happened between Battlefield 3 and 4. For starters, players will have less ammo than they usually do, which increases the need for the support class in teams which can give out extra ammo. Also, medics reviving players has a new added function, now the longer you hold the charge of defibrillators, the more health the player will get when he is revived.

Engineers have no big changes besides the fact that with the recon class’s help, they can now lock onto enemy vehicles with their basic rocket-propelled grenade. The only down side is the weapons power has decreased. Finally, the recon class has gotten a much needed improvement with range finders. These can help get sniper shots off and help target vehicles.

One point of interest that excites players includes the new function of new swimming physics. Players are really looking forward to the new swimming physics, in that now a gamer can swim underwater and swim with a secondary gun. Before, when swimming the player could not shoot while underwater and that would make the player a sitting duck to anyone on land, but now that you can swim underwater and return fire, the player no longer has to worry about swimming.

Overall, the game developers have tried to more balance Battlefield 4 and give the game a better feel with the features such as new swimming physics. Class changes will give a new strategy to the game and will help give no one the upper hand on the battlefield. Team work will be more important than ever with no one class being the clear best.

I can’t wait for the full version to be released I will jump on the opportunity to purchase the game as soon as I can.
