Winter is both a wonderful and difficult time for fashion. People often think winter gets in the way of dressing up, but it definitely doesn’t have to be that way. It’s a good opportunity to layer scarves, sweaters, and jackets.

The only negative side of dressing in the winter time is that it’s important to stay bundled up. Often times a cute blouse or top is forced to be covered up with a puffy jacket to keep warm or your chic shoes are put on the shelf for a day that’s not raining. However, a solution to this is accessories. Trendy beanies, scarves, fun socks and gloves are a great way to dress up a dreary winter coat. H&M, Uniqlo, and Forever 21 are department stores are always stocked with fun and affordable winter accessories.

Hair is also difficult to maintain in the winter. A quick solution to hair in the winter is up-dos and high buns. Tying your hair up is effortless and will keep your hair away from your face on windy and rainy days. Also, it’s a good opportunity to show any earring you choose to wear that day.

Dresses do not have to be ruled out either in the winter. A cute summer frock can easily be worn with patterned tights in order to be both stylish and warm.

Rain can often ruin your hopes of dressing up stylish for school. My personal favorite thing to wear on a rainy day is rain boots. Often times rain boots are not looked at as being trendy and are considered to be only for little kids. Rain boots of all colors and prints are coming out in women’s sizes. Target usually has a variety of rain boots for women.

Rain coats and wind breakers for men have also been trending for the winter. Brands such as North Face and Nike are more expensive, but worth the cost.

Luckily, in Tracy, there has been very little rain so far this winter. However, it’s still important to be prepared to dress for whatever weather it is. Weather doesn’t have to put a damper on personal style.

My idea of a perfect winter outfit includes: patterned tights, a skirt, a cardigan, a raincoat, and a pair of rain boots. I would accessorize the outfit with a knit infinity scarf and a simple necklace. I try my best to be stylish and comfy in any type of weather conditions.
