The 2014 Tracy High boys basketball season ended with a loss to Bear Creek on Feb. 14.

“I feel like our team under achieved, but this season was a step in the right direction,” Coach Junior Cueva said.

Tracy had lost its last game against Bear Creek, 64-56. This was a game Tracy needed to win in order to make it to playoffs.

“We made a comeback against Bear Creek and tied the game in the fourth, but it wasn’t enough to win the game,” Cueva said.

Coach Cueva and the team captains felt that senior night went very well.

“Senior night was great,” senior Josh Brakkee said. “I really enjoyed playing with my team one last time.”

“Senior night went well, I think our seniors really enjoyed it,” Cueva said.

Jeff Takahashi had a different view on senior night.

“I wasn’t able to play on senior night because I hurt my ankle in a previous game, but I still enjoyed supporting my team in our final game,” Takahashi said. “Our team played its hardest, but I guess it wasn’t enough to move on to playoffs.”

Brakkee expressed other feelings towards senior night.

“I believe that everyone tried and played their hardest on senior night. I know we all wanted to make playoffs because we did not want the season to end,” Brakkee said.

Many friendships were made throughout this season.

“The thing I enjoyed most this season was all of the friendships that were made,” Brakkee said.

Takahashi felt the same.

“I really enjoyed hanging out with my teammates on and off the court.” Takahashi said. “We grew really close this season,”

The crowd had a big effect on the team, which helped pump them up for games.

“I’ll miss the atmosphere that the crowd brought to each game,” Brakkee said.

“I will miss playing in front of Dog Pound with my team,” Takahashi said. “There was a game when some of the people in Dog Pound made cut outs of our faces to cheer us on which was pretty cool.”

“I hope to build on this season and develop as a program for future years,” Cueva said.
