The Bulldogs had an outstanding year with an overall record of 12-3. The Bulldogs came third in league with an 8-2 record and four individuals to advance to sections: junior Talon Simmons, junior Jared Finney, and sophomore Gavin Bean at the Elkhorn Golf Course in Stockton.

Gavin Bean scored a score of 88. Jared Finney scored a 94 and Talon Simmons 94.

Coach Derek Solano was proud of his team performed this year and how they improve. Solano’s favorite memory of this year was beating Lodi and Lincoln for the first time through league.

Both Simmons and Finney thought the season went well. They both were quite shocked that the performed the way they did surprised many different teams.

“As a team, we did very well because a lot people improved like Bean,” Finney said.

Finney and Gavin went almost every day over the summer and improved the game from last season. They both plan to practice more over the summer break.

At the league championship tournament, Finney scored a score of 79 on a par 72.

“It felt really good to get a 72 in league championship,” Finney said. “I wanted to prove everybody that I was one of the best golfers in league, and I achieved. I was proud of how I performed.”

But Finney has an even better score of 75 on a par 72. He also got a 36 on par 36.

“When I shot my 75 last summer with Gavin it felt so amazing. Finney said. “I have never it the ball so good.”

This summer Finney is going to improve on hitting the fairway more off of the tee and to work his putting.

“This summer I am going to work hard and a lot over summer because I want to play on college.

His goals for next to are to average a lower score and make it to masters as an individual if they team doesn’t make it. One of Finney’s big goals is to play in college. For the last year he’s been talking and wanting to play at Modesto Junior College. Finney will continue to keep practicing one more year and maybe have an opportunity to play at a

private university.

Simmons also had a great season. Simmons has been playing golf since his freshman year and also played for fun when he was little.

His best score was a 36 on a par 36 and the Tracy golf and country club, but his favorite to play on is Brookside golf course in Stockton.

Simmons is another player who will work over summer and continue to improve his golf game to prepare for next season. To improve his game he needs to work on his driver and his putting.

For next season, he is going to try and strive for a consistent shoot in the high 30’s.

“The team did very well,” Simmons said. “I was really surprised on how well our team performed.”
