Golf team hopes to do well for league

Tracy High’s boys’ golf team started off well with a 12th place tournament finish out 21 schools at Discovery Bay on March. 21.

Coach Derek Solano has high expectations for the boys, including making it to playoffs.

“We know that Lodi High is going to be a really good team to try to beat, so we are hoping that we come in second or in third place to be able to qualify for playoffs,” Solano said.

As a coach you notice strengths and weaknesses that will could affect and improve playing games.

“Our weakness would have to be our mental aspect of the game, and managing the way they play the game,” Solano said.

Captain Gavin Bean is in his fourth year of playing on the golf team and his first year being captain.

“This is my first year being captain. It’s a great honor because I have been playing golf for four years,” Bean said.

Being captain is a big responsibility because a captain needs to manage what is good for you and for the team.

My expectations as a captain are to play my best and to teach the other players to improve their weaknesses to make them better.
